Welcome to my website; Jane Holmes CBT Psychotherapy Leeds

Jane HolmesThank you for visiting my website. I would invite you to take some time to read through the pages of my website to find out more about the different types of therapy I provide and the types of difficulties that Cognitive Behavior Psychotherapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Family Work can help with. I hope that you find the information I have put together informative and helpful.

I am professional indemnity insured with PPS. I am a Registered and Authorised Psychotherapist with BUPA, AXA, AVIVA & CIGNA HEALTH.

I believe that therapy is about individual growth and development as it can help us recognize and access our strengths, capabilities and also to develop new insights, understandings and help make sense of ourselves; the different and unique ways we think and feel which then influences how we react or respond to situations and others around us.

Anais Nin said "We see things not always as they are, but how we are".

Most of us have times in our lives when things may be difficult and the space to talk to a therapist, someone outside of our families and friendship groups, can be enormously valuable and helpful. The private space to be listened to, feel validated and understood and to learn new ways of coping could make a huge difference to our psychological and emotional health and wellbeing.

For any psychological therapy to be effective and meaningful it is very important to choose a therapist who is right for you. If after reading my website you think I can be of help you are very welcome to phone or email if you have any questions that have not been answered or if you would like to make a time to meet to think together to decide how to proceed.

I understand that making the first step into therapy may be daunting, choosing the right therapist can be difficult and I hope that my genuine and warm approach will help overcome this hurdle. I look forward to hearing from you.

Child, Adolescent and Family

My background training is in social work and I worked for several years with children, young people and families who were experiencing breakdown and homelessness. I have worked therapeutically in family centre’s and was involved in the first pilot project in Leeds, working within a multidisciplinary team set up and based in both primary and secondary schools aimed at improving the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people struggling to engage in mainstream education provision.

I worked in early years provision; in primary schools, both training and co-facilitating emotional literacy and social skills groups and within secondary schools working with school staff, families and therapeutically with young people to manage difficulties associated with low self esteem, confidence issues, bullying, school related anxieties and low moods that may have been impacting on ability to attend school.

More recently I worked in a Leeds NHS Child, Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for several years as a specialist child psychological therapist working with a range of presentations common in childhood and adolescence. I provided individual and group CBT therapy with children, young people and families related to anxiety, depression, low self esteem and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

I am trained in 'The Incredible Years' Webster Stratton Behaviour Modification Parental Programme that is an evidenced based behaviour modification program used widely within the NHS and across community settings aimed at working with parents to manage a wide range of difficult childhood behaviours and managing children who experience intense emotions.

My current practice is 3 days as a CBT/EMDR Psychotherapist in the NHS Leeds and 2 days in independent practice. This is currently Saturdays located at The Orchard and Tuesdays I am generally located at Insight Therapy.
